WEB Leader application

Attention all 7th graders:

Are you interested in being a mentor for an incoming 6th grader next school year? Participate in our big kick off orientation? Meet up with a group of 6th graders to discuss issues and plan social events throughout the year? If so, please fill out the WEB application Mrs. Richey sent via email on 4/19.

Here is the email that was sent on 4/19/21:

 

Dear potential WEB Leader,

WEB Leaders are 8th graders who are good role models for younger students and who have been successful at our middle school. WEB Leaders’ communication skills, leadership potential, responsibility, and personality have helped them succeed in the middle school environment, and the lessons they have learned should be shared to help others succeed. You could have a tremendous influence on our new students and you will learn many valuable leadership skills in the process. Plus, it will be fun!!

What does a WEB Leader do? WEB Leaders are trained to work with the incoming sixth graders and other new students who are entering our school next fall. After the extensive training, the WEB Leaders will run sixth grade orientation before school starts in August. At the orientation, each WEB Leader will be given a small group of sixth graders to work with that day and will be asked to befriend and to help that group during the first week of school with any challenges they may face. Additionally, throughout the school year, WEB Leaders will meet again with their student groups to touch base, discuss problems, and plan social activities. We know that the more contact a sixth grader has with her/his WEB Leader the more successful the sixth grader will be.

 

  1. Please read the Code of Conduct.  You will be able to sign that you have read and agree to it in the application form.  
  2. For the teacher recommendation form you need to copy and paste the link and share it with one teacher who knows you well!  Make sure to email them and ask them if they would fill out the form for you. Make sure to share the link. Give them enough time to fill it out.  
  3. Applications must be completed by Friday, April 30th, 2021 via google forms. 


The dates for the WEB Leader Training and Orientation need to be confirmed as we figure out school opening guidelines.  They are TENTATIVELY  set for  Monday and Tuesday, August 2nd and 3rd, 2021.  The Sixth Grade Web Orientation is TENTATIVELY set for Thursday and  Friday, August 5 and 6, 2021.  It is very important that you be able to attend all the dates!  If you cannot, please do not apply.
