6th Grade Enrollment Information for the 2020-2021 School Year

Castro Valley Unified School District 6th Grade Enrollment Information for the 2020-2021 School Year
Enrollment into either of the two middle schools in CVUSD is not determined by attendance boundaries.
Current 5th grade students who reside within the district boundaries may apply to a preferred Middle School February 29 - March 13, 2020.
Important enrollment dates are listed below for students entering the 6th grade.
6th Grade Parent Information Night Parents/guardians are welcome to attend either or both middle school presentations below:

February 13, 2020 at 7:00pm – Creekside (self guided tour begins at 6:30pm)

SIBLING APPLICATIONS: February 28, 2020 -Deadline for submission of 6th Grade Sibling Applications. 5th grade siblings of current 6th and 7th grade middle school students are guaranteed enrollment at their sibling’s school for the 2020-2021 school year if a 6th Grade Sibling Enrollment Application is received on or before 3:30pm on Friday, February 28, 2020. ***A Statement of Residency Form and all of the required residency documentation (PGE and one other bill) must be submitted with the form.

NON-SIBLING APPLICATIONS: February 29– March 13, 2020 (see dates and times on application) Parents of non-Siblings of current 5th Grade Students may submit the 6th Grade Enrollment Application, along with a Statement of Residency Form and all of the required residency documentation (PGE bill and one other bill) to the middle school of your choice by 3:30pm on Friday, March 13, 2020.

**If either middle school exceeds their enrollment cap, placement will be determined by lottery. If needed, the lottery will take place on Monday, March 16, at 4:30pm in the CVUSD Board Room.

Data Confirmation and Walk Through Registration

Starting August 1st, parent/guardian(s) will need to log in and access their Parent Portal Account from the FOR FAMILIES TAB on the Creekside website. 

Don't have a portal account yet? Parents/guardians should have received an email from  [email protected] on July 23 if you did not have an account as of that date. 

The FIRST step of Registration is Data Confirmation 

Once logged in, parent/guardian(s) must:

Review, update and confirm your student's contact information.
If something has changed, contact numbers, new or obsolete emergency contacts, etc., you can make the changes through the portal.  If you have moved and need to change your address please bring your new documentation into your resident school site before Walk Through Registration.
Review important documents and complete necessary online forms.   

*Please print the first required document, the Creekside 2019-2020 Registration Checklist and then use that as a checklist to be sure you have all the mandatory forms.

Please note that many of the documents are linked to the actual checklist, so leave it open and then click on the actual words and links to the documents. 

Print and sign all required district and school site forms needed for Walk Through Registration.
If you have more than one student attending school in CVUSD, you will need to complete this process for each child.

If you do not have access to a printer, there will be blank forms available at walk through registration to complete before you get in line. 

If you do not have access to a computer, computers will also be available at walk through registration to complete data confirmation before you get in line.

The SECOND step of this process is Walk Through Registration Day 

On this day, a parent/guardian(s) will need to attend Walk Through Registration at the school site on assigned dates and times.  Be sure to bring all necessary documents (obtained through the Data Confirmation process) with required parent/guardian signatures.   It is most helpful if a parent comes in the event a form or signature is missing as we cannot distribute student schedules if any mandatory document is missing.

Wednesday, August 7, 2019    8:00 am - 11:00 am (Last Names start with A-L) Cantonese and Mandarin translators available 

Friday, August 9, 2019             8:00 am - 11:00 am (Last Names start with M-Z) Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish translators available

Friday, August 9, 2019             3:00 pm - 7:00 pm (All Last Names) Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish translators available

Students will receive their schedule once all required forms have been turned in. *Please note that 7th graders who do not have a Tdap record on file will not receive their schedules.

The School Supply Lists are located on our website on the OUR SCHOOL tab.

If you will not be able to attend on one of the dates above, please bring your student to the Counseling Office on the first day of school at 7:45am to turn in the forms and receive their schedule.

The first day of the 2019-2020 School year is Tuesday, August 13th. School will start at 8:30 am (zero period starts at 7:30AM).
